Homework #8

Homework Due: Friday, March 7th
Dear Students,                                                                      
     Homework for the next few weeks will be in packet form.  However, the expectations for homework remain the same. It must be completed using your personal best! Remember to plan out your assignments so you don’t procrastinate! Trust us, we can tell when you do!

ELA & World Investigations
* Each day you need to read for at least 40 minutes and LOG!!                          
You CAN count the time you spend reading your biography book.  
Don’t forget to write at least two strong post-its for each chapter.                        Remember, you are working on increasing your reading stamina! Your goal is to get to 70 minutes by the end of April!

* Read both “Time for Kids” magazines (this can count as part of the 40 minutes).  
After reading both magazines, choose one of the following questions to answer on a separate sheet of notebook paper. 
Remember, you can brainstorm your ideas on paper first, before you begin to write.

1. You are a travel agent who wants to convince people to visit Poland.  Explain why Poland would be a place people must visit. Be sure to use at least three details from the text in your answer. 

2.  Is cheating acceptable?  Explain your point of view.  Be sure to use at least three details from the text in your answer.

In your writing, be sure to:
·      Use interesting word choices and different kinds of sentences that will make your writing clear
·      Put your ideas in an order that makes sense
·      Open your writing with a clear focus and add a strong ending
·      Check your writing for correct capitalization, punctuation, and spelling

Math

* You should be spending about 90 minutes each week on Dreambox! That’s about ~15 minutes each day. We will be checking your progress at the end of each week.

* Reading graphs! Study the line graphs for “Summer Days” and answer the questions.  Be sure to show your work!

* Math practice and review!

* Continue practicing your multiplication math facts. Remember, your goal is to beat your previous week’s score!
